We do what we do as missionaries supported by people like you.

We also prefer to give away as much content as we can, and not cloud that issue with a lot of public requests. That said, we do have specific needs that are met by people who believe the work we do has value.

Raising Them Up

Earlier this week, I was working late at the kitchen table waiting for Kelsey and the boys to come home from the prayer room.  I texted her “Much longer?”.  She replied “Gray on the mic now…”.  And so, like any dad, I pulled up the webcast.

What I saw made me smile, because I remembered another sight from some years ago, and not much had changed.

On the left, Grayson is praying at TheCall in Kansas City, New Years Eve 2007.  On the right, it’s this past Tuesday night.   Note:  He’s a little bigger.  But he’s just as intense.

This August, we will celebrate our eight anniversary of serving here at IHOP-KC.  It has been glorious.  It has been difficult.  Raising funds as missionaries to pray is not like raising money to go on a missions trip.  Fewer people see the value.  Sometimes, I feel like saying we’re going to drill a clean water well in our back yard in hopes that supporters we’ve not yet met will say “That’s something I can get behind!”.

That night, when I saw Gray on the webstream, I saw the value of a community of night and day prayer, because I know that behind Grayson there are hundreds – even thousands – of young men and women like him.

Many of them will gather here this summer for the Fascinate Conference – not because there is something mystical about Kansas City, but because all around the world, people find their tribe, and this tribe is one with an unparalleled sense of purpose.

So here we are, in Kansas City, going on eight years…because prayer matters.  And Grayson’s tribe matters.  And I want to deliver as many of that tribe as I can to the throne of God at the end of the day.
